Vulgar Display of Band Merch
Mail day!
This is a shirt from the fairly short-lived mid-90s hardcore band Cast Iron Hike. They were from Massachusetts, and put out two 7”s (one on Trustkill) and only one full length, titled “Watch It Burn” on Victory Records. We all know back then the Victory Records logo used to be a pretty surefire sign of a solid band (sadly today that isn’t the case). They had a fairly unique sound, with clean-sung vocals. Think of a slightly darker version of Only Living Witness. I think this band is extremely underrated and deserves more recognition so check them out if you can. Members went on to be in Doomriders and some other groups that escape me at the moment.
This shirt is printed on a Fruit of the Loom Lofteez shirt and is fucking enormous on me, but I still dig it. I believe it’s from around 1997, when the full length was released. It’s in practically perfect condition, absolutely no cracking or fading on the print. The giant back print of a weird purple fetus kills me but it looks fucking cool for some reason. The Victory bulldog on the sleeve is a nice touch.
Here’s a cool little video with some footage of the band playing to some pretty big crowds and getting some wild reactions. Great stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaW6rN0SJBw
