It’s been a longass time since I posted anything here. Here is my Throwdown merch collection as it currently stands.
Here’s an awesome piece my girlfriend found for me last year!
I’ve seen 100 Demons windbreakers before, but never this particular one. Most have the classic brass knuckles design on the front pocket as well as on the back. This one is way cooler in my opinion, and I’m assuming it is probably from around 2004 or shortly after the self-titled record was released. The front pocket has a sick Chinese dragon with “100 Demons” around it (the 100 is above and Demons is below, kinda hard to tell unless you look at it closely) with “Connecticut Hardcore” underneath. I wish they’d print a t-shirt with this design too because it rules (unless they already exist and I’ve just never seen it). Can’t go wrong with the infamous brass knuckles on the back. Always one of the most badass logos. Now that it’s cold out I can rock this over a hoodie and look pit-ready in the chilly weather.
Been a while! Here’s a little something I got in the mail today.
Where do I even start with this? This Ignite shirt is as 90s as it gets. This one is from 1996, around the release of the “Past Our Means” EP. My guess is it was probably available for mailorder from Rev at the time. The front has a little pocket print, and there’s a small Revelation Records logo on the left sleeve. The back is my favorite; full color live picture AND the entire lyrics to “Past Our Means” with a ridiculous border that says “Past Our Means” over and over. I know this was a pretty common style with 90s hardcore tees, and it’s the sickest look. It’s almost goofy but I think that’s why I love it.
And of course it’s an XL, because that’s all that was available in those mailorder catalogs at the time. One size fits all. The shirt was clearly navy blue originally but it’s almost got a little “concert gray” fade going on. Classic. Some fraying around the collar and bottom hem, so it’s clearly seen some pit/gig action which rules. It’s big and comfy. Probably not the best for everyday things like going to class, but this is definitely one to wear at a show. Someone bust out the JNCO jeans for me.
Since my 22nd birthday was four days ago, I feel like it’s appropriate to post this.
This is an original Life Of Agony tee that was sold shortly after they released “Ugly.” What a great record. “River Runs Red” was for the pitters and “Ugly” was for the rockers who wanted to sing about how they were sad because their parents didn’t like them. This is one of my favorite LOA shirt designs ever. Lost At 22 is one of the best tracks on the record, the band member pictures on the back are what really make the shirt for me.
Despite being a 17 year old shirt, it is in incredible condition. It has a Blue Grape tag with a 1995 copyright date under the print. Very legitimate. The fabric is extremely soft, and the collar and sleeves are very thick. The print on the shirt is still flawless. It’s just the right size, couldn’t be better.
Mail day! Here’s a recent eBay score that I got for under $10 (can’t imagine why no one else bid more). The Wrong Side is hands down the best Lockin Out band there has been. Don’t even try to debate that with me. And this is one of the coolest Wrong Side shirts I’ve ever come across. I wish I had more info on it. Was it for a specific run of shows? Maybe just one? A mini fest? Not sure, but if someone could enlighten me that’d be awesome.
The design is sick, and I wonder if it was done by Morgado himself. It works well on navy blue, much better than if it had been black. Only complaint is that it’s printed on Gildan instead of Fruit of the Loom (hi haters). Still fits well and is a great look.
One chance was one too much, honor isn’t cheap and trust comes tough!
For those who don’t know, The Promise was an awesome straight edge band from the Syracuse area, active in the early 2000s. Members were in Another Victim and One King Down previously and I think one guy from this band is in Maximum Penalty now. All their material was fantastic, definitely had that defined early-2000s sound that’s hard to duplicate today. This tee is from around the release of the “Believer” LP (2004).
This shirt has one of the coolest designs. Blood splattered band name and quote on the front, album art on the back. The back art is a heavy print, but not TOO heavy (doesn’t make your back sweat, you know what I mean). Printed on Alstyle/AAA, which I normally hate, but this is one of their older tees so it ain’t bad.
Could this be the ugliest Life of Agony shirt ever?
Possibly. Top 3 maybe. Oh well! I scooped this longsleeve off a guy in Baltimore who I’m pretty sure is a member of Stout. LOA is one of my favorite bands, so I had to have it regardless of how it looks. It’s in pretty much perfect condition, and I think it’s a fairly recently printed shirt (maybe from the 2003 reunion shows or shortly after that?). The tribal flames are what make it look so “bro” but again, I don’t even give a shit. Towards the bottom of both sleeves there are some more small gray flames that say “LOA” inside them, which is a nice touch. I love the back, we all know “Underground” is one of the best and hardest songs.
The shirt is printed on a tagless Fruit of the Loom Lofteez. It’s an XL so it’s big on me, but surprisingly not as big as I thought it’d be. As much as I’m against altering shirts, I may end up getting the sides taken in just a little so it’s not as wide. Regardless, it’s comfy and a rad shirt. Even if it is a little… “UGLY” (see what I did there?)
JAILBREAK, IN YOUR MOTHERFUCKIN FACE
Jailbreak was a fairly short-lived and very awesome band from Detroit, Michigan. Will and Haroun from RZL DZL played in this band (Haroun is also a current member of Cold World and he sings for Build and Destroy) so they gotta be sick, right? They put out a demo and a self-titled 7”. I own both on vinyl and I can upload them to Mediafire if anyone hasn’t heard them and can’t find a working link anywhere.
Not sure how many shirt designs Jailbreak had, but this is now the 2nd of their tees I’ve managed to acquire. Got it in a trade with my dude Mike from Germany (if you see this, thanks again!) and it fits great. Printed on a Hanes Heavyweight shirt, it’s soft and worn in just right. Love the artwork of Mike Tyson attacking the Empire State Building. I don’t wear white shirts often but I’ll be rocking this one frequently.
Haven’t posted in a bit! This past weekend I was just in Philadelphia for This Is Hardcore 2012 and it was awesome. So many sets by so many great bands, and there was some cool merch up for grabs. This was my personal favorite thing I picked up. This Death Threat tee is a rip of the classic Black Sabbath “Master of Reality” logo. Sabbath rules. Death Threat rules. What’s not to love? It’s printed on Gildan and fits great.
